Dr Sang Nguyen is a Research Associate in Aeronautics at Imperial College and is involved in the Hub Core project "Manufacturing for structural applications of multifunctional composites".
Following a Mechanical Engineering degree at Cambridge University, his PhD, conducted at Imperial, investigated the threat of runway debris impact damage. His career continued with consultancy in mechanical testing of composites for aerospace and automotive applications and experimental research in multifunctional energy storage materials. His current role within the Composites Hub Structural Power research project focuses on design and manufacturing aspects. The challenges that he will investigate include manufacturing complex geometries, system integration, multifunctional design optimisation, scale up of the manufacturing process and demonstrator design.
