Richard Day

Richard Day joined Wrexham Glyndwr University in January 2010 as Professor of Composites Engineering. He subsequently became Head of Department for Engineering with responsibility for activities across the Wrexham, Broughton and St Asaph sites.

He is now Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research as well as continuing his role as an engineering professor. His role involves leading the preparations for an application for Research Degree awarding powers as well as the preparations for submission to the Research Excellence Framework 2021.

He studied Physics at Queen Mary College, University of London, followed by a Master’s degree in the Physics of Materials at the University of Bristol. He returned to London to undertake PhD studies in the degradation of single crystal polymers.

Richard brings to the university a strong history of research and research leadership in Russell group universities as well as experience in postgraduate admissions and monitoring. This together with his wide background in Physics, Chemistry and Electrical Engineering have led him to lead the research in the university.
