Preetum Mistry is a Research Engineer at the University of Nottingham working towards an Engineering Doctorate in Composites Manufacture. His research is focussed on Lightweighting rail vehicles using fibre reinforced composite materials. Preetum is actively involved in developing a hybrid manufacturing process for incremental forming of thermoplastic composite materials for large rail structures through a Hub Feasibility Project. He is also involved in the design and development of a composite rail axle through the NEXTGEAR Shift2Rail Project. Prior to commencing doctoral research, he worked for a year at Ford Motor Company on the Commercial Vehicle Transit Programme, with a focus on Project Management and Materials Engineering. He previously graduated with a BEng (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Nottingham in 2016. Preetum is an Associate Member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) and Professional Graduate Member of the Institute of Materials, Minerals & Mining (IOM3).
