Dr Mihalis Kazilas is the Director of the Brunel Composites Centre (BCC) which focuses in novel composites processing and joining. He has over 15 years of industrial experience in composites processing, modelling, process monitoring, control and optimisation of composites manufacturing. He has participated in and led a number EU projects on these topics. In the area of MW heating of composites, Mihalis has technically managed the MU-TOOL project which delivered ceramic tools with MW absorbing coatings to European SMEs for use with the HEPHAISTOS MW oven. Mihalis also led the MW research in the ICEPS-ORPS Clean Sky project where MW radiation was used for de-icing of composite blades. Finally, Mihalis initiated and currently coordinates the SIMUTOOL project where the tooling technology developed in MU-TOOL will be developed to TRL 7 for automotive and aerospace applications.
