Patrick Sullivan is an EngD candidate researching recycling methodology for end-of-life carbon fibre reinforced polymer composites, based at the University of Bristol and National Composites Centre. Since joining the IDC Composites Manufacture programme in 2020, Patrick has worked as part of the NCC Sustainability team and on a number of industry-sponsored projects, mainly looking at aerospace carbon fibre waste. His experience includes production of nonwovens, forming trials, carbon fibre reclamation, shredding and downsizing of composites, and separation of composites from non-composite materials. Patrick’s current focus is the influence of fibre length on Bristol’s HiPerDiF technology, and using semi-automated methods for measuring fibre length distribution.
